Who doesn’t want to feel their toes in the sand? A beach get a way is what so many of us dream of, and now that the world is starting to return to somewhat normalcy, I sense many a beach ball will be bounced! This is the third and final installment of my “How to travel like a guru series,” You can see the video series here: https://youtu.be/X2GaAB-N5fI We want to feel rested but look like a million bucks on our get a way and that can often be challenging when traveling and trying to squeeze a girl’s closet into a suitcase! We recently celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary at our snow bird place, Naples, Florida and took the Key West Express for anniversary night in Key West. This was the perfect time to practice what I preach, so here is what I packed.
The Swimwear!
The staple of our beach get a way has to be swimwear! I have put together some of my favorite looks, whether you are a one piece lover or two. And what’s even better? We can make these pieces a capsule wardrobe and wear some of them for night outs! Say what!??? If you have pictures of squeaky flip flops through a fancy five star restaurant, stay with me! As a popular TikTok trend says, “No one’s going to know!”
Not a Teeny Weenie Bikini
Let’s start with the two piecer-s. I am one of the misfortunate whose top and bottom don’t agree on sizes, so I have to buy separates. If you are like me, that is going to help us on our beach get a way consolidation. I picked up white bikini bottoms on Amazon https://amzn.to/2RtmRZw and paired them with some of my favorite separate bikini tops. One of my favorite affordable retailers is Cupshe. They have the cutest affordable swim tops like this tropical one shoulder that goes with my Amazon bottoms! You can’t go wrong with a neutral bottom and pairing it with different bikini tops like I did here! I am also wearing the super comfy, cute sandals that you can wear out or all over the town to sight see! You can find them here: https://amzn.to/3w23nKv
One for all-the one piece!
If you prefer a one piece, or like me, prefer to mix it up, I found this adorable one shouldered hot pink number at one of my favorite USA online boutiques: Lime Lush. I paired it with boy shorts from Amazon that you can find here: https://amzn.to/3w23nKv and it was the perfect attire for my first snorkel trip without looking like I was on a snorkel trip! Ha!
The Cover-Up; more than swimwear!
The cover up is where I really had fun and became the staple pieces in my beachwear collection! I love a good cover up. I am somewhat of a modest gal, and while I love the beach, I often want a little more coverage getting to and from. Some of my favorite and easiest to pack cover ups are the sarong wraps. I love these affordable ones like the one in the two piece shot above from Amazon: https://amzn.to/3ivyVEC I also am a huge lover of the thrift, and I found beautiful scarves that double as sarong swimwear wraps! (See the red in the top photo!) I also like things to do double duty so I used them as hair accessories and as you will soon see–tops! I found this wildcard jungle cover up at TJMaxx and wait until you see it’s versatility! Lastly, probably my most favorite is the wrap skirt. I purchased them in black and white from Amazon: https://amzn.to/3ioDalG and as much as I love them for the beach, I loved them even more for night’s out!
The Cover-Up becomes night out wear!
This is where I had some fun! That tropical TJMaxx cover up? Paired with a pencil skirt (that we can also wear with sneakers and a tee for site seeing days) now becomes a glamorous night kimono that reminded me of JLo’s infamous Grammy dress-but a rated G version, ha ha! The scarves now become cute tops, and the wrap skirts are paired with dance shorts (I got this idea from a cute jumpsuit I picked up here: )
Shoes, shoes, shoes
Shoes is where we ladies often have the most problem consolidating. I recommend three, possibly four pairs for your beach get a way. First up is sandals. Everyone needs a cute, functional slider like these Tory Burch or you can get a more affordable option like these: https://amzn.to/2T4REwr Sneakers are so in, so versatile and can be used for touring the site days or paired with a cute sundress. These wedge sandals are so versatile and can be worn with shorts or dress them up–and the best part? They are THE most comfortable shoes I own (and I have WAY too many shoes) and are by Crocs! Yep, believe it! (I have them in every color!) You can find them here: https://amzn.to/3irTBxo Lastly, if you are going out somewhere really swanky, every girl needs a pair of nude strappy heels. I adore these Madden Girl ones and have worn them with everything and everywhere and I constantly see them on IG! Very affordable, give the illusion of a longer leg, and can be found here: https://amzn.to/3gb6F7E
Sundresses are so today!
Sundresses have been around for ever, but I am not sure I have ever seen them ever more popular than today. So versatile for beach days with a hat and sliders, a night out with those wedges or heels, yet totally capable of pairing with sneakers! I opted for two sundresses, a long flowy one was a thrift shop find and a shorter one for a little more leg. I loved the elastic waist for holding me in when I ate one too many beach stand hot dogs!
That’s a wrap!
I hope you enjoyed the versality of the wraps, coverups and swimwear! You can check out the entire beach haul on my youtube video here: https://youtu.be/xhoONE8mrA8 Don’t forget your sunglasses, sunscreen and hats and let me know in the comments what your favorite beach trip clothing is! Happy Beaching!
