If you would’ve told me as a shy young 20 something that I’d be walking New York fashion week as a runway model at age 53, I would’ve sold you some swampland in Florida! Well, it is a seller’s market right now, and yes, I was indeed a runway model at age 53 last week for NYFW!
Thanks to VIP fashion shows and VIP pageantry, I was blessed to model this adorable jumpsuit for designer Laylah Rose. The week was the perfect end to Randy and my 14 day East Coast empty nest trip!
We started our journey in Kentucky at the amazing Ark Encounter, and I marked off a bucket list item by ziplining for the first time! We were then onto Washington DC, to see the historic sites we have waited our whole lives to see! They did not disappoint, and the Lincoln Memorial was our favorite, with the sobering Ford Theatre, next. A quick drive up to New Jersey, and I got to meet my dearest TikTok friend, also named Tricia!
Next a short drive to Philadelphia would not have been complete without grabbing some Philly Steak sandwiches at Pat’s King of Steaks! YUMMY!
We were next onto Boston for a stay at the luxurious Liberty Hotel! This also gave us the perfect chance to film a TikTok Elle Smith aka Legally Blonde style at Harvard! You can see my video here
Next, we headed north to see my pageant bestie, Mrs. New Hampshire Earth! We drove up the coast and had the perfect New England rainy day as we toured New Castle and Portsmouth! The light houses in New Hampshire were captivating but not Nearly as fun as seeing Maggie!
Finally we finished the last four days in New York Time Square at the lovely Marriot Marquis Time Square! I got to visit with one of my dear friends and catch up with several of my pageant queen sisters who were also walking in various fashion shows. I wore my best cool girl pleather outfit to my first trip to Madison Garden to see Billy Joel and we laughed until we cried in the bicycle driven chariot that took us to the concert. Finally, we were blessed and in awe to be in New York City on September 11, and see the beautiful memorials at Ground Zero for our fallen heroes.
Randy and I had planned this trip since we got married eleven years ago, but we did not dream of how memorable it would truly be! Prior to the trip, we purchased Segway Ninebot Max Scooters and they allowed us to see the cities in the funnest way!

Many nights we were at amazing unique Airbnb’s, a few nights we were at luxurious hotels, and on driving nights, we boondocked at Cracker Barrell’s and Cabela’s! Stay tuned for more empty nest van adventures and let me know if you would like a tour of our Ford Econoline turned Barbie dreamhouse van build!
